With each breath you take a child dies from hunger, or hunger-related, causes.
It's not easy being alone. For a child it can be terrifying. And yet that’s exactly what millions of orphaned children in the poorest regions of the world experience daily. Many have lost parents through famine, others through wars, still others through disease. Frequently, the oldest surviving child takes on the role of parent, trying to feed and raise the younger children though they themselves may only be 10 years old. There are no social services for them. When they cannot go on, they simply fade away ... silently. Today over 34,000 children under the age of five will die from hunger or hunger-related causes. Tomorrow it will happen again ... and so on. And yet, we can make a difference.
