Starting a ChildChange
Ministry in Your Church ...
A ChildChange ministry begins
with God's calling on the heart of an individual. That person
will plead the cause of those who cannot speak for themselves
and organize the ministry with their local church.
The goal of the ministry
is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the poor using
tangible acts of love. In this way God is glorified and precious
lives are saved. This ministry is not a fundraiser. It is
about eternal treasures.
The ChildChange leader in
the church will make announcements about the needs of the
poor and help to acquaint Christians with the scriptural mandate
to care for the poor. The leader will distribute information
about the ministry to those whose hearts God touches. Participants
are given a small "Love Loaf" piggy bank. They are
instructed to take the Love Loaves home and, at the end of
each day, place their left over coins in the banks. Over time
the Love Loaves will become filled. When they are filled the
participants will bring them to their church, on a regularly
scheduled day of attendance, and turn them into the ChildChange
leader for the church. When they turn in the full Love Loaf
they pick up an empty one, and the cycle repeats. As time
goes on the participants form a habit of filling, returning
and exchanging the Love Loaves.
We have found that the average
mix of coins in a single Love Loaf is enough to provide life-sustaining
food, clothing, shelter, medical care and a Christian education
for a child for an entire month. The child is nurtured in
the love of God and given opportunity to know Jesus Christ
as their Lord and Savior.
We will provide the individual
with all the needed posters, bulletin inserts, "Love
Loaf" piggy banks and instructions to make the ministry
successful. We will provide all these things free of charge.
The individual will uphold the ministry in prayer and communicate
the vision to others that feel drawn to help. In some churches
the lives of over 200 children have been literally saved as
the congregation responded to the leading of God's Spirit.
Since the ministry uses only
left over pocket change to operate, there is usually no impact
on the church's tithes and offerings. In fact, the regular
giving has been seen to go up as people start thinking outside
of themselves. As our Lord stated, "It is more blessed
to give than to receive." It is our experience that adults
and children alike experience a change in perspective after
being acquainted with the poorest of the poor. For many people
this may be one of the most rewarding things they ever do. |
